We intentionally don't work senior appointments to a fixed clock. A dog with mild stiffness might only need a little extra time compared to a standard groom, while a dog with significant mobility issues, a medical condition, or low stamina might need the visit spread out with several short breaks to rest. We'd always rather take longer and keep a senior dog comfortable than finish quickly and cause unnecessary stress.

If your dog tires easily or is on medication that affects their energy, let us know beforehand — we'll plan the pacing around that from the start rather than adjusting mid-appointment.

How Often Should Senior Dogs Be Groomed

Many senior dogs actually benefit from slightly more frequent, shorter grooming sessions rather than the longer, less frequent visits that worked fine when they were younger — shorter coats are easier to maintain between visits and put less strain on joints during the appointment itself. A good baseline is every 4–6 weeks, adjusted based on coat type and mobility, with nail trims sometimes needed more often since less active senior dogs wear their nails down less on daily walks.
